Zoom Makeup Essentials

With many of us now fully remote for work and school, Zoom, or some other format of online collaborating, sucks up at least six hours of our time. During that time, we are most likely not just doing math problems and discussing literature, but staring at our image on the screen. The computer camera is not kind on the face, especially if you are working in a room with bad lighting (like me). A couple of weeks ago, I got fed up with staring at an image of myself that I wasn’t fond of, so I decided to take action. I ended up finding a couple of beauty products that changed my appearance on Zoom for the better — as well as made me feel a bit more comfortable staring at myself all day. Below are a few products that will make you look better on Zoom!

Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar Bronze and Glow

This bronzer-highlighter duo had been on my wishlist for quite some time, but I finally decided to go for it after a mini version was released. The is probably one of the most sculpting bronzers I have ever used, and I noticed that it makes my face look a bit more defined on camera. The highlighter is the cherry on top because not only does it make you look glowy, but give the illusion of cheekbones.

Maybelline Falsies Lash Lift Mascara

I’ve come to the conclusions that I’ll be on the hunt for the perfect mascara for the rest of my life. However, every once in a while I come across a mascara that is almost exactly what I’m looking for — and this one happens to be one of them! Since the computer camera it not good at picking up detail, bigger it better when it comes to mascara. So, I decided to swap out my more natural looking one for something with a little more volume. After doing extensive research (yes, I spent about 30 minutes Googling “best drugstore mascara”), I decided to try Falsies Lash Lift Mascara. After I got home from Target and ripped off the packaging, I was pleased to discover that this mascara lives up to its name. It not only lengthens the lashes, but makes them look fuller — all without clumping!

Nars Orgasm Blush

Just like with mascara, I am always in search for the perfect blush. One that has always been on my radar is the highly acclaimed Nars Orgasm blush. On the Nordstrom website, I found a little set that has the Orgasm powder blush, cream blush, and lipgloss in travel sizes. I decided to go for it and test them all out before I bought the full size, and I have been impressed. While the powder blush isn’t as pigmented as I expected, it looks great layered on top of a pink blush for that extra pop of color and glow you need on Zoom. The shade is also one of those perfect pinks that looks flattering on every skin tone.

Revlon Kiss Balm

Though this product looks like it’s marketed for young girls, this balm gives the lips surprisingly great color and moisture! I was looking for a balm that wouldn’t break the bank and something that I could keep at my desk and apply throughout the day — and this one does the trick. This balm is incredibly soft and gives the lips a nice punch of color. I decided to try the strawberry one, and it makes the lips look more pink and healthy.
