The End of an Era

It’s hard to believe that I’m actual writing this, but at last, I am. Today, on my way to school, I received a message on my phone that read something regarding Kim Kardashian. Of course, I was driving, so I didn’t look any closer. When I got to school and checked my phone, the message was not about dear Kim, but about Karl Lagerfeld, who had suddenly passed away.

I’ve been obsessed with Chanel since fifth grade. Karl Lagerfeld, who was the creative director of Chanel, was able to keep the brand timeless, yet relevant, even after the death of Coco Chanel. Each fashion show he put on was innovative and breathtaking, turning classic designs into trendy pieces.

What I feel that was lost most when he passed, is the common hope among women everywhere. That hope is to find a fashion designer that it not just an entrepreneur, but an artiest. Someone who creates work that is worthy of a spot in a museum. The girls who dream about pearls and two-toned flats, and who find fashion as their one true love in this world. While the next creative director of Chanel may not have the same gift, the spirt of Karl will carry on in the Chanel collections forever.
