Chic and Classic Wardrobe Essentials
If I’ve learned anything so far, a good outfit makes a great day. Though it is painful to wake-up at 6:40 when all I want to do is go back to sleep, I wear something nice every-single-day, no matter how sleep-deprived I am. Over the past few years, I’ve curated a wardrobe full of timeless, classic pieces. As Karl Lagerfeld once said, “trendy is the last stage before tacky.” This quote has defined my sense of style, and though I’m not the hippest teen of all, I always feel confident in what I wear. I put together a list of essential items you need to build a “classic wardrobe”. These pieces alone can create a countless number of outfits for a countless number of occasions. Looking and feeling chic starts with a good outfit and mindset.
White Shirt
There is nothing more timeless or classic than a crisp white shirt. I wear mine alone, under a jacket, or under a sweater. I also have a blue and white striped one as well, which is just as versatile.
Flare Jeans
These are my favorite pair of jeans because they go with every outfit. I love a flare opposed to a skinny jean because they really spruce up an outfit and help to create a better balance for the overall look.
Loafers
My favorite pair of loafers are black, patent leather with pearls. I bought these on a whim at Zara two years ago, and they have been a staple in my wardrobe ever since. I love patent leather, and these shiny loafers jazz up any outfit.
Blazer
My favorite blazer of all time is the Balmain double-breasted wool blazer. I, unfortunately, do not yet have this Balmain jacket, but it’s at the top of my wishlist. While I don’t have this one, I have a similar blue blazer that I wear almost every week. I also recommend trying out different patterns and materials, such as plaid and tweed.
Watch
Truth be told, my watch doesn’t even work anymore, but it makes for a great accessory! It ties all of my outfits together, and I don’t leave home without it. Mine is rose gold, and it also matches most of my jewelry.
Black Sweater
A black sweater is the perfect choice for the morning when you oversleep or don’t know what to wear. It’s simple, classic, and a piece you will have forever. I often wear it by itself or under a jacket.
