Bedtime Essentials for an Elegant Night's Sleep
Living elegantly doesn’t stop when you go to sleep. Going to bed is my favorite time of the day, and I believe that it should be just as fabulous as getting ready in the morning. Over the years, I’ve found a handful of items that are essential for sleeping well. They make going to bed and falling asleep both fabulous and relaxing.
Sleep Mask
While I originally started wearing a sleep mask because I thought it was a great accessory, I can’t go to bed without one now. As someone who has an extremely hard time falling asleep, it helps to make everything darker, and therefore more sleep-inducing. Also, sleep masks are great for the eye area! They can help reduce the look of wrinkles and puffiness. My favorite is from Amazon (pictured above). I have one in light plum and another in light pink. They are made by OLESILK.
Button-down Pajamas
It’s time to trade out that ratty sweatshirt for a pair of nice pajamas. You should never be embarrassed by what you wear, pajamas included. I’ve always been obsessed with sleepwear, but it wasn’t until I got my first pair of Victoria’s Secret long silk button-downs that I learned how essential they are to feeling put-together. Going to bed feeling chic and looking up feeling chic changes your whole lifestyle. My favorite pajama sets are from Victoria’s Secret and P.J. Salvage. Pictured above is my leopard-print pajama set from the latter.
Fur Blankets
Even during the middle of the summer, I always sleep with my two favorite fuzzy blankets. Fur (even faux) has the power to make any room feel extremely luxurious. Adding one to your bed will make it feel both cozy and chic, making it easier to relax. I sleep with a light faux fur from Restoration Hardware and a dark faux fur from Pottery Barn. Pictured above is the one I have from RH, in cream.
Essential Oil Diffuser
I love anything spa-like, and I’ve adored my essential oil diffuser for years. I turn it on while I’m getting ready for bed and it turns off by itself during the night. I usually put about five drops of lavender oil and two drops of eucalyptus oil into the diffuser, which helps me fall asleep. When I wake up, I feel refreshed and relaxed (unless I get less than seven hours of sleep). The scent helps to ensure a deep sleep, which is something that I always need, especially during the school year. I can’t find an image online of the one I have, but I put up a similar one above.
Pillow Mist
A pillow mist works s0rt of like a diffuser, except you can apply the scent directly to your pillows and sheets. It also tends to smell a bit stronger. My favorite one is Lavender Vanilla from Bath & Body Works. I’ve been using it since fifth grade, and it helps calm the senses before bed. Also, since a mist is easily portable, it’s great for traveling, so you can have relaxation any were you go.
