Handbag Wishlist
Some women are shoe lovers (think Carrie Bradshaw), some women are jewelry lovers (think Elizabeth Taylor), and some women are handbag lovers (think Kris Jenner). While I love Louboutins and Cartier as much as the next girl, handbags have always come first in my heart. Looking at bags is one of my favorite things to do. It’s a great mental distraction, and nothing excites me more than shopping and dreaming about potential new pieces. Below, I’ve created a list of bags I hope to have in my collection one day.
Chanel Classic Handbag
Chanel is my favorite brand, and this is the piece that made me become obsessed with handbags. This bag was created by Karl Lagerfeld in 1983, a reinterpretation of the 2.55 handbag designed by Coco Chanel. This bag is so classic and timeless. I love the heavy chains, the CC clasp, and the double flap. This bag is also a great investment because the price goes up every year. A couple of months ago, it was $5,800. Today, it’s $6,500.
Hermes Crocodile Black Birkin Bag
The Birkin is the most exclusive handbag in the world. These bags are the ultimate status symbol, as you can’t even get one in the store. You have to manage to get on a waitlist and purchase lots of products from Hermes in order to prove that you are a worthy client. A new Birkin cost at least $10,000, and this one, which I found on 1stdibs, is listed for $65,000. I love the look of the crocodile and the gold hardware, it’s truly breathtaking. This incredible bag is both a great statement piece and investment.
Nancy Gonzalez Crocodile Satchel Bag
Sticking to a crocodile theme, Nancy Gonzalez is the queen of crocodile bags. I love this light grey satchel. Since there is no logo, it’s very chic and discreet. It’s simple, but very refined. It currently retails at Bergdorf Goodman for $3,800.
Louis Vuitton Multicolor Speedy 30
This bag was the “it bag” of the 2000s. The monogram was created by the celebrated artist, Takashi Murakami. It was carried by almost every major celebrity, from Paris Hilton to Kim Kardashian to Jessica Simpson. Louis Vuitton discontinued the collection in 2015, which still breaks my heart to this day. However, there are plenty of used ones for sale from websites such as The Real Real and Tradesy.
Hermes Kelly
After the Birkin, this is the second most exclusive bag in the world. Though it was created in 1930, it rose to popularity after Grace Kelly, an American movie star turned princess, was spotted carrying it to hide her baby bump in 1956. Thus, it earned the title of the Kelly bag. This understated bag is completely and utterly timeless and elegant.
Lady Dior Bag
This sweet and charming bag is one of Dior’s most popular creations. It was a favorite of Princess Diana, which the bag was renamed after in 1996. She carried the bag all over the world, making it a truly iconic piece. I love the D I O R charms on the handles, making the bag a little playful. I also love the intricate quilting. The whole bag is just so adorable.
