Why Carole Radziwill's Tiger Sofa Is My Ultimate Decor Inspiration
Carole Radziwill, my favorite Real Housewife of New York City and the ultimate low-key princess, has one of the best sofas of all time. When I was first introduced to Carole in season 5, the first thing I noticed in her apartment was her Scalamandre silk velvet Le Tiger sofa, which once belonged to one of my favorite style icons, her mother-in-law Lee Radziwill. Lee had the couch custom made at De Angeles in the 1960s, and it has been featured in French Vogue.
Even though Carole is no longer on The Real Housewives of New York City and said couch has since been re-upholstered (due to scratches from her kittens), it will always remain the ultimate chic statement piece.
As I mentioned before, the couch is made of silk velvet, which is an extremely expensive material (hence why Carole didn’t want to re-upholder her couch in the same fabric). Even a pillow made of silk velvet Tiger is jaw-droopingly expensive. However, this tiger pattern is the ultimate sign of luxury and taste, so if you ever come into a few thousand dollars, it may be worth it to invest in a pillow.
The reason that I love this tiger pattern so much is that it is so timeless and classic. It was in style sixty years ago, and it will still be in style sixty years from today. Hopefully, one day I can fill my apartment with Le Tiger pillows and sofas, following in the steps of two iconic Radziwills.
